Have you have tried a bunch of methods for how to fall asleep but still cannot sleep?
Then you're in luck. I hereby give you a 100% guarantee that you are able to fall asleep within 15 minutes using the way I'm about to describe. It's true, I promise.
Ok, let's get going! :-)
So not being able to fall asleep is closely connected to restlessness. When you're lying there in bed unable to relax fully, you might start to toss and turn to find a better sleeping position.
Well, even though it might seem like "the best sleeping position is always the next one", the fact is that you shouldn't twist too much if you want to fall asleep fast.
What you should do instead is to lie still. Completely still.
Yeah, you heard me!
When you lie completely still your body will start to settle and relax whether you want it or not. It's almost like meditating, just with the slight difference that you are not trying to focus too intensely on the present moment.
Actually, what happens for most people (myself included) when they start to practice meditation is that they find themselves almost falling asleep just within a matter of 10 minutes. However, this scenario passes as the mind's concentration ability grows stronger with more practice. But when it comes to falling asleep we can use the same variables.
So as you're lying in bed, you want to lie on your back and stretch out your legs. Place your hands comfortably by your side. When you feel comfortable enough, close your eyes. Now, whatever you do, do not move! Hear me, do not move =)
Keep lying in the absolute same position for another 15 minutes and the same factor as in the meditation practice will come into play. You WILL fall asleep.
Remember that you're not allowed to move or adjust any part of your body during this process. Don't scratch anywhere. Don't reposition your fingers. Don't twist your head. Nothing. If you just do the slightest adjustment, you will basically start over.
After just a few minutes of stillness, you will start to feel a very special sensation in your muscles. Just note how it feels like and as long as you got that exact feeling you're doing it right. For me, it's almost like I start to lose the sensation of my limbs. I don't feel the connection to my arms anymore. It's pretty amazing actually :-)
If you manage to keep this up for 15 minutes, then you are guaranteed to fall asleep even if you claim that you cannot sleep. During a research experiment, ALL of the participants trying this method managed to go to sleep within the time limit. So the hope is good for anyone!
So in theory it might sound easy, but there are a few pitfalls that you should be aware of. For example, you have to know how to deal with the following situations:
Remember that all of these things are just in your head. Nothing is really critical to act upon. So you have to be able to keep your calm and concentration on just lying still. It's quite unbelievable how fast these affects start to come - after only a few minutes your body will enter a completely different stage, but don't worry, as long as you don't move you will succeed.
So next time you cannot sleep, try this quite revolutionary method and I can guarantee that you will sleep like a baby in no-time if you manage it correctly.
See you in the land of dreams =)
