Create Your Own Morning Routine
The Magic 4 Step Formula

Create Your Own Morning Routine

It's really easy to create your own morning routine actually. But to create an awesome morning routine is where most people fail. There are some special ingredients to go into making it perfect.

If you are having problems with chaos, lack of time or confusion then you really need to use these 4 pillars to construct your own morning routine. Based on myself and many other people's morning habits I found that the most successful pattern for a happy and long-lasting morning routine is:

  1. Excite
  2. Relax
  3. Plan
  4. Go

Let's dig a bit deeper into each of these...

1. Excite

You really want to start your morning with something intense and energetic. You need to get your body pumping and energy-level raising! If not, there is an overwhelming risk that you fall back into bed. Something that might have happened to all of us once or twice...

Or even worse, you walk around half of the day still in sleep mode.

Personally, I really suggest doing some morning exercise. It's ideal to really wake up in the morning. Both your body and mind will be bright awake afterwards. Don't worry, you don't need to spend an hour at the gym or running 5 miles outside. No. Just 15 minutes of anything you can do at home is perfectly enough. Start small and see how it goes.

If you don't want too or can't exercise at all, then I suggest some mind exercise instead. Perhaps some studying or working on a hobby of yours. Something that gets you inspired and thinking is a great choice.

2. Relax

Next after that you want to tune down a little bit. Perhaps:

  • Morning meditation
  • Morning yoga
  • Reading a good book
  • Listening to an audio book

All of these will settle down your mind a bit to make sure you can start your day in a stable manner. Hopefully it will give you a calm and relaxed feeling that you are able to carry with you throughout your day.

I mean, it's so easy to get stressed up in the events of the day, so to have a baseline to step back to can be fantastic.

3. Plan

After an intense and exciting start of your day followed by a relaxed activity, it's time to get planning. To make sure you get the most out of the upcoming day, you really need this step. Very few people are able to do this, hence their lives get more and more chaotic as the week unfolds.

The basic questions you want to answer are:

  • What do I want to accomplish today?
  • What steps can I take to do that?
  • How do I measure my progress?

If you are into long-term goal setting, then is the perfect time to review how you are doing and to steer yourself in the right direction. To take a couple of minutes each day to sit down and really reflect on your life and what you really want to get done, experience or learn is vital if you want to take your life to the next level.

Trust me and take a couple of minutes each morning to write down your thoughts. It's priceless.

4. Go

Last step to create your own morning routine - eat, dress and get going. If you can, try not to be stressed and be running out the door. If you do, you're kind of ruining all the effects from the relaxed moment earlier. Keep yourself in one piece and have a steady breakfast before preparing yourself for wherever you are going to do.

To get yourself in the right mental state, a few powerful questions can work wonders. Try some of my favorites here:

  • What are you incredible proud of in your life?
  • What are you excited about in your life?
  • Who in your life loves and supports you truly?

Ask yourself these questions before going and you will be all fired up! A final tip - make sure to really feel the answers of the questions as you ask them. Feel your excitement and it will make you walk out that door with a very strong life power.

The magic formula is complete. However much time you have, if you follow these guidelines you will be able to create your own morning routine in no-time. And the best thing - it will really work. For example, if you have 2 hours in the morning:

  1. 0600-0620 - Excite : Exercise at home
  2. 0620-0700 - Relax : Read a book / meditate
  3. 0700-0720 - Plan : Reflect on your upcoming day and what you want to accomplish
  4. 0720-0800 - Go : Eat your breakfast, get dressed and get on your way

Now do your best and let me know how it goes with your mornings!
